Tight Squeeze in North Capitol Hill
Working on pre-1920 Victorians in North Capitol Hill usually means fighting for inches in a muddy alley. We had a gut-renovation project where the contractor was boxed in—dumpsters on one side and a steep grade everywhere else. He was terrified that placing the toilet curbside would block the neighbor's driveway and spark a feud.
We didn't just drop the unit and run. Our driver dollied two standard units thirty feet back into the yard, leveling them on blocking we brought along. We set up a containment tray to protect the soil. The crew had easy access without tracking mud, and the neighbors never had a reason to complain.
Mateo got the units right where we needed them without tearing up the yard.
